Sunday 27 March 2011 – Fazeley’s Mayor, Cllr Andrew James, was joined by residents of the town, dignitaries from across Staffordshire and friends and family at today’s Civic Sunday.
The morning began with the annual parade from Fazeley Town Hall to St Paul’s church, Fazeley where Rev Hugh Baker led the congregation and Town Mayor, Cllr Andrew James, gave a reading during the service.
After the service, and a cup of tea and coffee, the civic party then returned to the Town Hall for a buffet lunch and speeches from both Cllr Andrew James and the Mayor of Tamworth and former Mayor of Fazeley Cllr Lee Bates.
Cllr Bates paid tribute to Cllr James saying, “Andrew has been very modest over his achievements saying, it has been a team effort to get every thing done. But without his passion a lot of what is now in place would not have happened.”
Cllr James responded, “I would like to thank my friend and colleague Lee for his kind words. I am very proud of my two years as Mayor of Fazeley and without the support of all of my colleagues on the Town Council Fazeley would not be the place it is today.”
