Cllr Rebecca James performed her first official act today as Fazeley’s Deputy Mayor, when she had the honour of opening Fazeley’s Pre-School outdoor play area.

Cllr James joined staff, parents and residents at the Pre-School to plant trees at the rear of St Paul’s Church Hall to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year.  A community tree planting pack was donated by The Woodland Trust as part of their plan to plant six million trees this year.

The new home to Fazeley Pre-School opened last April and the outdoor children’s play area has been built using funds raised during the last year plus a grant from Lichfield District Council.  Today’s event raised £400, which will go towards developing the area further.

Cllr James officially cut the ribbon to open the garden and planted a Royal Oak tree sapling, grown from an acorn from one of the royal estates, to mark the event.
