On Course for Mile Oak BMX Track!

Lichfield District Council and Fazeley Town Council are working in partnership with local agencies and cyclists to improve a BMX track in Mile Oak that is in need of a facelift.

Thanks to the partnership securing more than £21,000 from Veolia Environmental Trust, work is set to start on the new track in the summer.

As well as designing and building the track, the funding will be spent on adding bicycle racks, benches, hedgehog and bird boxes, and first aid training for members of the new Mazeley Wheels Club.

Councillor Colin Greatorex, Cabinet Member for Community and Organisational Development, said, “It is good to see work progressing on the BMX track that will be available for local cyclists to use and enjoy this summer.”

Fazeley Town Mayor, Cllr Rebecca James, added, “This is fantastic news for the whole of Fazeley and I would especially like to pay tribute to the town’s District Councillors for all of their hard work in helping to secure the funding for this project.”

Lichfield District Council led the bid for funding with the support of: Fazeley Town Council, Staffordshire Young People’s Service, Lichfield and District Community & Voluntary Services, Mazeley Youth Club, Tamworth BMX Club and young people from Fazeley and Mile Oak.
